First let's get a few things out of the way. Yes, I am/was that bloke in Everything But The Girl. Yes, I recorded 'North Marine Drive' in my youth. Yes, I have been a DJ for over 10 years. Yes, I wrote a book in 1996 about surviving an extremely rare life-threatening illness called 'Patient'. Arto Mwambe
Who or what is Arto Mwambé? Until recently we were led to believe that he's a talented young producer from Burkina Faso. But it recently came out that the men responsible for the project are actually Christian Beißwenger (AKA CB Funk) and Brontosaurus boss Phillip Lauer. The two Frankfurt natives have been active in the city's electronic music scene since the turn of the decade, with Lauer making his mark with a run of choice deep house 12-inches on local label Séparé Recordings, and Beißwenger dabbling in the funkier end of microhouse and minimal techno. Soon after teaming up for a 12-inch of twisted electronic disco on Punkt, Lauer launched his Brontosaurus imprint and took Beißwenger under his wing. (read more)
