Label Showcase

The digital era of the music label has arrived. With the advent of retailers such as Beatport, barriers to entry for labels have been breaking down and anyone can start their own imprint. Now literally thousands of labels are struggling to make a break in the industry with over 5,000 new song a week being released.

The weekly Label Showcase on Proton Radio aims to shed some light on notable labels, new and established, from around the world. Mixes played on this show will solely feature music from a single label, preferably mixed by the label manager themself or an artist/DJ affiliated with the label.

Soma Quality Recordings (more commonly known as Soma Records) is a Scottish techno and house label co-founded in 1991 by the electronic music duo Slam. It is currently known as the best dance music label in Scotland as well as one of the world's leading techno and house labels.[1] The label is known for releasing Daft Punk's first tracks from their 1997 album Homework.
