Perceptions
As one of Proton Radio's longest running show's helmed by longtime show host Dres (Andres Escallon) & his counter part in NYC, David Josephs, Perceptions continues to bring you the very best in house music, showcasing talented new faces to the scene as well as established and respected artists. Join us now in our 11th year as we continue to bring you exciting guests and exclusive live sets to help melt away your monday afternoons.
Another monday late in the month means a brand new installment of Perceptions on Proton Radio, and we have a huge treat for everyone today. Not only do both David and I have new mixes to share with you guys, but we have a very special trio of guests who's reputation on and off the decks, superceeds their wacky nature. Joining us today, after a long time of begging and chasing around the globe, are DEMI, DESYN and OMID...but you know them better as S.O.S.
Formerly known as "The Idiots" , these three have individually shaped the face of the dance scene over the past 6 years, each in their own ways. Omid ( 16-B ) has been a staple of quality production, bringing some of the most mind-bending dark house classics that we all got down to in the early days when Progressive House ruled all. Desyn Masiello quickly established himself as one of the industry's top DJ's with his increadibly forward thinking sets...becoming one of the pace setters of the industry incorporating popular styles with cutting edge new music that he gladly shared with the world through the very reputable label "Alternative Route" which today continues to impress. Demi, a name that has risen and become included in the pack of the worlds most respectable and talented DJ's , showed us that even self made folks didn't need to have crazy connections in order to succeed in the industry. Helming the infamous Bedrock Pre-Party of yore called "Deeper Substance", he began to really get the attention of the heavy hitters, and when people like John Digweed, and Danny Tennaglia express how talented they think you are, people tend to take notice. This summer Demi's sets in Ibiza and his summer US tour did nothing but cement what people have been saying about him for years.
David Josephs

S.O.S. (Demi, Desyn and Omid)
Sex On Substance (SOS) is an uber-cool DJ alliance comprised of Londoners Demi, Desyn Masiello and Omid16B. Friends drawing inspiration from their rich musical heritage, and direction from their beloved Deeper Substance and Sexonwax music labels, SOS was born of a desire to create synergy.
The multifaceted rule of threes helps give balance to scores of compositions and also appears to apply in favour of SOS. Individually, Demi, Desyn and Omid have already excelled in the realms of electronic/house music, however, sometimes three heads beat one, six hands are better then two.

Dres
Almost every DJ comes from humble beginnings, and Dres is a perfect example of this. Born in Bogota, Colombia in 1978, Andres Escallon grew up surrounded by the sounds and rhythms of traditional Colombian music. His father, an avid music collector, helped expand Dres's tastes by exposing him to everything from classic rock, punk, new wave and british synth pop. It's these sounds that helped forge Dres's love for music at a very young age.
