Australia's progressive house maestro Matt Rowan has a few basic rules when it comes to his distinct sound. There must be funk. There must be swagger. And there must be a melody that brings you back for more. From not so humble beginnings with Jaytech in 2006 to #1 pole position on Proton in 2011 with his "Played" radio show, Matt has always had a gift for crafting and finding progressive that makes us move.

Now he unveils the full length "Basics" artist album, his second after 2008's "I Play This" on Baroque, marking a welcome return to Proton Music after remixing Cid Inc. and Tim Culbert for the label in 2010. But Matt's involvement with Proton Music goes back as far as 2006 when his "Lush" remix with Jaytech helped the label find its footing in its earliest days.

The "Basics" title track was released as a single last month with a remix from Nick Stoynoff & Ad Brown and early support from Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo, and Luis Junior.

Matt Rowan's artist album is out June 19 on Proton Music.
