Australia's progressive house maestro Matt Rowan has a few basic rules when it comes to his distinct sound. There must be funk. There must be swagger. And there must be a melody that brings you back for more. From not so humble beginnings with Jaytech in 2006 to #1 pole position on Proton in 2011 with his "Played" radio show, Matt has always had a gift for crafting and finding progressive that makes us move. For proof one needs to listen no further than the bass line riff in his new "Basics" single. Matt gets it.
Heralding the imminent release of his "Basics" artist artist album comes Matt Rowan's precursory single of the full length's title track. "Basics" marks Matt's welcome return to Proton Music after remixing Cid Inc. and Tim Culbert in 2010, with involvement going back as far as 2006 when his remix with Jaytech of AFK's "Lush" helped the label find its footing in it's earliest days.
Joining the fun are modern day progressive prophets Nick Stoynoff (Chicago) and Ad Brown (London). The two recently collaborated on the original track "Nebulas", which was a featured Beatport Progressive release, supported by Shingo Nakamura & Mango, and played on Proton Radio by Tom Fall and James Warren. Both Nick and Ad each host shows on the station and are responsible for countless hours of quality progressive house.
Matt Rowan's "Basics" single is out May 29 on Proton Music.
