In April of 2005, Blake Potter and Corey Spengler's entry in Proton Radio's first remix competition won them the attention and respect of the station's listeners, paving the way for 8 best-selling releases on the Proton Music label.
Now, as they put the finishing touches on their sophomore EP, Opencloud revisit the title track from their debut 'Life' EP with an adrenaline filled reinterpretation alongside a new remix from upcoming Romanian artist Cristian Paduraru.
We caught up with Blake Potter and Corey Spengler this spring in Miami at this year's Winter Music Conference. They hadn't yet remixed Fingerpaint but had come to the conference with a double disc showreel that had some how found its way into Phil K and Hybrid's record box.
Blake and Corey played it for us in their hotel room's CD player, mounted on the wall next to their bed. Vous & Je was the first track.
During the conference, the industry's reaction to the Opencloud reel was overwhelmingly positive-- but everyone loved different tracks on it. Life, a mellow, melodic set opener... Sculpting with Jackhammers, a twisted peak time track... there was no single stand out track. They were all incredible. So we've decided to release a bunch of them with the Life EP, enjoy Opencloud!

Corey Spengler grew up in San Antonio, lived and DJ’d In College Station, received his Engineering Degree from A&M, moved to Dallas, started DJing again, got into production, worked on several projects before meeting Blake, WMC 2003 changed everything, started Opencloud.
Born in LA, Blake Potter grew up in Texas, started playing drums at 3, made his first record with his brother and sister when he was 8, started playing clubs when he was 9, started DJing when he was 12, went solo when he was 16, met Corey in 02’ and worked on a few earlier projects together before starting Opencloud.
